Ijebu Pleasure Club
Afrobeat meets the 80's
Ijebu Pleasure Club takes you to Nigeria in 1985, where a small town Afrobeat band have just been told they need to play American top 40 hits to keep their nightclub gig. They don’t own any of the records, but they’re going to give it a try.
Mashing up the music you remember (and some that’s best forgotten) with the Afro-funk style of Fela Kuti, they will surprise, delight, and will definitely get you on your feet dancing.
Featuring singer Nuel Nwachukwu, and led by saxophonist Ben McNicoll, this band will remind you that all pop music comes from Africa.
